Sweden take on Romania in their penultimate match in the main round of the 2024 Women's European Handball Championships. The Swedes have two points in Group B while Romania are in fourth and yet to earn a point.
Thursday saw Sweden beat Poland 33-25 with Nathalie Hagman scoring nine goals. That's the second match in this tournament in which the Swede has scored nine goals with a best of 11 in the 47-19 thrashing of Turkey.
Sweden won two of their three games in the preliminary round but were beaten by Hungary who top this main round group. After this match, they still have to play France and Montenegro with the top two in this group going into the semi-finals.
Romania are struggling to get into the last four. They finished second in their preliminary group with wins against the Czech Republic and Serbia but being defeated by Montenegro. Their opening match in this main round saw them lose to France.and another loss here will end their qualification hopes. After this match, their two remaining group fixtures in the main round are against Hungary and Poland.
The Swedes have only lost one of their last eight matches, while Romania have seven losses in their last nine. We tip Sweden to win on a -4.5 goals handicap.
