Sweden take on the Netherlands in the European Women's Handball Championships. Both teams finished third in their main round groups and this match is the fifth/sixth place play-off. Sweden finished fifth in the 2021 World Championships but a similar finishing position here will be their best in the European Championships since 2014. They finished behind Denmark and Norway in the main round, the only two countries that have beaten them so far. both narrow defeats. The Swedes have won their last two matches with the most recent being a 31-27 win over Croatia on Wednesday.

The Neherlands won the world title three years ago. They haven't built on that success though and were only ninth last year. They finished second behind France in the preliminary round of this tournament. Their hopes of reaching the semi-finals were hit when their first two main round group games saw them lose to Germany and only draw with Spain. They beat Montenegro 42-25 in their most recent match. That was a record win but Montenegro rested key players. This will be tougher and the tip is for a narrow Swedish victory.
