Sweden vs Germany Prediction & Betting Tips - Women's Olympics Handball

Sweden face Germany in their second match in Group A of the Women's Olympic Handball tornament. The Swedes are in second place in the group after an opening win, while Germany surprisingly lost to South Korea. Read on for our prediction of this important group fixture.

The Swedes finished fourth in the Tokyo Olympics and would love to go at least one better in Paris. They also filled fourth spot in the World Championships that were held last year and fifth in the 2022 Euros. Form in recent weeks hadn't been good with two out of three games being lost.

They had a tough match against Norway in their opening group game and trailed by two goals at half-time. A great second-half comeback saw them run out 32-29 winners with Nathalie Hagman scoring eight goals. 

Germany are already having problems after they lost their opening match in this group. The Germans surprisingly lost to South Korea on Tuesday. They trailed by a goal at half time and were still a goal down at the end of the match.

That defeat certainly puts the pressure on them to get a result in this match. The top four automatically qualify for the last eight and they are currently in fourth position..  

On that occasion they only won one of their five matches and failed to get past the Preliminary Round into the knockout stages. Last year saw them make it to the last eight of the World Championships for the second successive tournament.

The loss to South Korea ended a run of two wins in a row over Hungary and Brazil. They have lost two of their last three matches against Sweden, the most recent being a seven-goal loss in the 2023 World Championships.
