The Dutch player is coming off a title win in Osaka as a qualifier. This marked her first tour title success and propelled her 37 places to 88th in the live ranking.

Marie Bouzkova on the other hand, is marking her return to Guangzhou after a five-year hiatus. She reached the quarter-finals on her debut and will seek to surpass this.
