Emma Raducanu begins her 2025 clay court campaign with a match against Suzan Lamens. This is a first round match in this WTA 1000 tournament and both players are unseeded. Can Raducanu reach round two? Here's our match prediction.

Raducanu is at 47th in the live rankings and that's 22 places above her opponent. The British player still doesn't play enough tournaments and only twice this year has she won more than one match in a WTA Tour event.

This is her first match since reaching the fourth round of the hard court tournament played in Miami. 2023 and 2024 saw her play just seven clay court matches, four of them being won. Her best results on this surface have come in Stuttgart with two quarter-finals but did get to round three here in 2022.

Suzan Lamens has a 5-1 record on clay this year. That includes a win over the current British number one Katie Boulter in the Billie Jean King Cup. Last week saw her play in Rouen and the Belgian made it to the semi-finals.

That run included a win over second seed Linda Noskova and ended with defeat by Olga Danilovic. Lamens has won five ITF clay titles and a Challenger Tour event last year. We tip her to beat Raducanu.
