Sussex vs Worcestershire Prediction & Betting Tips - Vitality T20 Blast
by Steve Ashfield | in Cricket Predictions
Friday will prove to be a day of two halves in England. The day will see England battling to avoid the follow-on in the fourth test, all doom and gloom really. Then in the evening, Sussex host Worcestershire in the quarter finals of the Vitality T20 Blast. Under the floodlights, Sussex will hope to continue their impressive run in this season's competition and reach finals day later in September. This is a repeat of last year's final when Worcestershire beat them to win the title for the first time. Sussex qualified for this match after finishing top of the Southern group with eight wins from their 14 games with one tie and two lost to the weather. Players to look out (sadly for them Jofra Archer is on England test duty), include batsmen Luke Wright, David Wiese, Alex Carey and Laurie Evans. There'll be a lot of beer drunk by the near sell-out crowd at Hove but Worcestershire will be more worried about Sussex bowler Will Beer. Reece Topley will be looking to add to the 16 wickets he has taken in this year's competition.
Worcestershire finished fourth in the Northern Group after winning six of their 14 games. Five matches were lost and three ended in no-results. Their net run rate was only 0;205 compared to the 0.803 recorded by Sussex in the group stages. Worcestershire are the reigning champions but aren' t quite in the form they were in last year when winning nine of their group matches. Their team includes England test player Moeen Ali who since being left out of the national team has scored two half centuries in T20 matches. He and Riki Wessels are the only two Worcestershire batsmen in the top 40 batting averages for this competition. Sussex have home advantage and they can put that to good use and get the win here.
