Match 41 of the 2024 Indian Premier League will see the Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday afternoon. The hosts are currently in third place in the league standings, while the visitors are bottom of the table. After a shaky start, losing two of their first three matches, the Sunrisers Hyderabad come into this match with their tails up. They were much too good for the Delhi Capitals on Saturday and romped to a 67-run victory, led by Travis Head and Shahbaz Ahmed, who blasted 89(32) and 59*(29), respectively. That marked their fourth win on the bounce and took them to ten points, level with second-placed KKR and four behind the Royals. Head has now moved to second place in the race for the orange cap, while Thangarasu Natarajan’s 4/19 against the Capitals leaves him eighth in the purple cap standings with ten wickets in 20 overs. SRH beat this opponent by 25 runs on April 15 and are the favourites to do so again this week. 

Meanwhile, the 2024 IPL season has been nothing short of a nightmare so far for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. While they are not mathematically eliminated as yet, it seems highly improbable that they will make the playoffs. RCB suffered their sixth loss in a row on Sunday, coming up one run short against the Knight Riders in a match for the ages. Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar both scored half-centuries in the loss, while Cameron Green and Yash Dayal both picked up two wickets each. Virat Kohli only managed 18 runs at the top of the order but is still wearing the orange cap, 55 runs ahead of Travis Head, who he will face in this match. A major criticism of RCB this season has been their bowling unit, which has largely failed to back up the likes of Kohli and Jacks. Yash Dayal has been their best bowler in this competition, but he has only managed to take seven wickets so far and is ranked 25th in the purple cap standings.
