The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings will face off in their final group-stage match of the 2024 Indian Premier League this Sunday. The hosts are third in the league standings, while the visitors are ninth. The one point earned from the washout against Gujarat Titans secured SRH's spot in the playoffs. However, achieving a top-two finish is no longer solely within their control, as Rajasthan Royals have the potential to surpass them with 18 points even if SRH win their final league game and finish on 17. SRH could still claim the second position if they win their last match and RR lose theirs. However, if SRH's final match is also washed out, leaving them with 16 points, RR's 16 points would rank them higher on the points table due to their eight wins compared to SRH's seven. The Sunrisers beat this opponent earlier in the competition and are the favourites in this match. 

Meanwhile, PBKS became the second team to be eliminated from the playoff race. With one game remaining, they have climbed from tenth to ninth in the standings following their win over the Rajasthan Royals. Their aim now is to avoid finishing at the bottom of the table this year by securing victory in their final league game against SRH. Despite their poor overall form this season, Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh have caught the eye. Singh is in sixth place in the leading wicket-taker standings, while Patel currently wears the purple cap with 22 wickets in the competition, and he will be hoping to add to that tally before bowing out.
