The Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to keep in touch with the top five sides in the Indian Premier League when they play host to the Chennai Super Kings on Friday afternoon. The hosts are currently in sixth place in the IPL standings, while the visitors are third. After finishing the 2023 season in last place, the Sunrisers will be hoping for a much better campaign this term. As it stands, they have managed two points in three games, which came courtesy of a 31-run victory over the Mumbai Indians. On either side of that victory, though, they suffered two defeats, beaten by four runs by the Kolkata Knight Riders in their opening match and losing to the Gujarat Titans by seven wickets on Sunday. Heading into game four, SRH have two players in the running for the orange cap, with Heinrich Klaasen currently in third place with 167 runs and Abhishek Sharma in ninth with 124. The hosts lost to this opponent by seven wickets last season and are marginal underdogs in this one. 

Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings have made yet another positive start to an Indian Premier League season, currently in third place with four points after their first three matches. They got the tournament started with a six-wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore and followed up with a 63-run win over the Gujarat Titans in game two. However, the Delhi Capitals pulled off a major upset, beating them by 20 runs on Sunday. CSK are the most successful team in IPL history, with five titles to their name, level with the Mumbai Indians. However, they have reached the playoffs 12 times in the past and have contested the finals on ten occasions. The men from Chennai have been the dominant side in this contest over the years, winning 14 of the 19 matches between these sides. Surprisingly, the visitors have no players in the top ten batsmen list as yet this season, but Mustafizur Rahman currently leads the race for the purple cap with seven wickets to date.
