Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Novak Djokovic Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Australian Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
For the second Grand Slam final in a row, we have a match that also sees the winner becoming world number one. Third seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on the fourth seed Novak Djokovic in what could be an historic Australian Open men's singles final. A win for Djokovic would see him go level with Rafael Nadal for the most Grand Slam men's singles titles wins. It'd also be his tenth Australian Open title and only Nadal at Roland Garros has won one Grand slam so many times. Djokovic has been in supreme form for around seven months now. In terms of singles tournaments he's bidding here to win his sixth ATP Tour event (and second Grand Slam) out of seven. His only loss in a singles tournament since losing in the French Open last year was in the final of the ATP Tour Finals. This year has already seen him win the first of the Adelaide International tournaments and he's made it to this Australian Open final with only one set and that was a tie-break lost to qualifier Enzo Couacaud in the second round. He's won 14 sets in a row since then. The only slight concern over Djokovic is if that hamstring problem comes into play. It doesn't seem to have troubled him in the last three round with only 20 games lost in nine sets.
While Novak Djokovic knows only too well how to win a Grand Slam and be the world's number one, that's not the case with Stefanos Tsitsipas. This is only his second Grand Slam final and the other saw him lose to Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros two years ago. He's guaranteed to leave Melbourne with a career high ranking. He's up to second in the live list but will top the rankings if winning this Australian Open final. He comes into this final having won all ten of his singles matches this year. Tstsipas was in great form during the United Cup and that's continued in Melbourne. The Greek player has lost three sets on his way to this final, including two against Jannik Sinner. His record against Djokovic is pretty appalling with just two wins from 12 matches. Tsitsipas last beat his opponent in this final in 2019, since then he's lost nine in a row. Ten is the magic number here and Djokovic can win this final, possibly with a tie-break being played somewhere along the line. i
