Third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on seventh seed Arthur Fils in the first quarter-final in Basel. Ahead of their Friday match, let’s look at the stats before offering a prediction.

Tsitsipas overpowered qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets to advance to this round. The win was his fifth in six indoor outings this year and improved his record to 42-20.

Tsitsipas, an excellent indoors player, has four titles on such surfaces and reached the final in three more. Going all the way in Basel and surpassing his semi-final tournament high will see him return to the ATP top 10.

Arthur Fils defeated Tsitsipas on an indoor surface in their only previous meeting to date, in the semi-final in Antwerp last year.

The Frenchman will be confident of doubling his advantage and boosting his chances for another tour title. His superb year has already delivered two titles, most recently in Tokyo at the start of October.

Fils, who has won both of his matches in Basel in straight sets, won eight of his last nine matches. He defeated Pedro Martinez in round two, improving his record to 38-24 and moving to 19th in the live ranking.

The winner here will play Andrey Rublev or Ben Shelton for a place in the championship match.
