Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Alexander Zverev Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Acapulco Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
While the Dubai tournament saw a wild card take on a qualifier in the final, that's not the case in Acupulco. The number one seed Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on second seeded Alexander Zverev in the final of the Mexican Open. Tsitsipas is the world number five and has made his way to this final for the loss of just one set. That was in the third round when he had to go to three sets to get past Felix Auger-Aliassime with the middle set being the one lost. His semi-final saw a straight sets victory over the qualifier Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian had beaten fifth seeded Grigor Dimitrov in the last eight but could only win four games against Tsitsipas. The Greek top seed is in his first final of the year after losing in the Australian Open and Rotterdam semi-finals. It's his first tour final since losing to Andrey Rublev in Hamburg last September. It's 13 months since his last title when winning in Marseille.
Alexander Zverev is two places below Tsitsipas in the world rankings. He hasn't had the greatest of starts to the new year. He was in the German team that reached the last four of the ATP Cup but lost two of his three matches. Zverev reached the last eight of the Australian Open and then the last 32 in Rotterdam. The only win he's had this year against a player in the top 25 was against Denis Shapovalov (not having a great year either) in the ATP Cup. This week has seen better form for the German but hasn't had the greatest of opposition. He was due to take on eighth seeded Casper Ruud in the last eight but his opponent withdrew. The last four saw Zverev up against unseeded Dominik Koepfer, who beat Milos Raonic in round two. Zverev beat Koepfer in straight sets but lost 11 games with the second set going to a tie-break. His record against Tsitsipas is not an inspiring one. He won their first meeting in 2018 but has lost the five that have followed, the last two by straight sets. Go for Tsitsipas to extend that record with a win in this final.
