Only Rafa Nadal and Juan Carlos Ferrera have retained the Monte Carlo Masters this century. Defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas is only two matches away from joining that list. The third seed takes on Alexander Zverev who is seeded second. in the semi final Tsitsipas has reached the last four for the loss of just one set, That was the middle one in his quarter final against Diego Schwartzmann. The world number five is yet to win a tournament this year. Beating Zverev would see him in his second final of the year, the other being in Rotterdam,where he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime. 

Alexander Zverev is in his first Monte Carlo Masters semi final since 2017. The German has won six ATP Tour titles on clay but only one in the last three years. He has reached one final this year, losing to Alexander Bublik in Montpellier. Zverev has also only lost one set this week. That was the first set to ninth seed Jannik Sinner in the last eight. He has had nine matches against his opponent and lost six of them, including both meetiings on clay. Go for Tsitsipas to win this semi final.
