Could this finally be the week when Alexander Zverev reaches a Grand Slam semi-final?  The German is the seventh seed but only at the French Open has he made it to the last eight in a Grand Slam until this week. His previous best in this tournament was a fourth round appearance last year. Now he's finally made the last eight and takes on 15th seeded and former Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka. Zverev has won the ATP Tour finals and in total has won three ATP Masters 1000 titles but just never plays his best in Grand Slams. The past week has seen Zverev win four matches and not even drop a set. The fourth round saw him beat in-form Andrey Rublev in straight sets, this might just be the week he's been waiting for since 2014.

Stan Wawrinka has had a tough time in reaching this semi-final. The 2014 Australian Open champion has made it to the semi-finals here twice since that victory but the last two years have both seen him exit at the second round stage. He lost his first match in the Doha tournament held earier this month and didn't compete in the ATP Cup. Wawrinka has had to survive twobe five-setters to get through to the last eight. He beat Andreas Seppi in a deciding set in the second round and then came from two sets to one down to knock out the fourth seed Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round  The pair have only had two previous meetngs,both won by Zverev and he can get another victory here.
