Toulouse will play host to Clermont Auvergne in the Top 14 on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently in seventh place after the first quarter of the competition, while the visitors are one spot above them. It’s been a challenging start to the 2023 Top 14 for Toulouse so far. They have managed four wins and three losses in their seven games while claiming two bonus points in that time. The Red and Blacks come into this match off the back of a 31-23 defeat away to Castres last week. Notably, that was their third away loss this season, while they have emerged victorious in each of their three home games. The hosts have now won six consecutive home matches in all competitions. Toulouse have been the dominant side in this fixture with four wins in the last five meetings and are the clear favourites in this one as well. 

Meanwhile, Clermont Auvergne have an identical record to Toulouse of four wins and three losses this season but are ahead of them, having managed one more bonus point than their opponents. That bonus point came in their last match when they were narrowly beaten by Toulon 30-27 on their home patch, which followed back-to-back victories over Montpellier and Bayonne. However, it is worth noting that the latter was the only away win they have managed in this season’s competition. Clermont have not won at this venue in their last nine attempts, dating all the way back to September 2014. The visitors are expected to find it difficult to take anything from this match.
