The problem with the format being employed for this ICC World Cup is that there are some teams who have little to play for now. South Africa have played seven games in this tournament but only won one of them. That victory came in a comfortable nine wicket win over an Afghanistan team that has lost all of their games to date. The South Africans failed to build on that win losing their next game against Pakistan. That defeat ended any hope of them reaching the semi-finals.That means their final couple of games against Sri Lanka and Australia mean little to them really. It will be interesting to see how they approach this match.

It's the exact opposite for their opponents though. A surprise win over England was only their second in six games but it means they still have a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals. They have been unlucky with two of their matches being rained off. Even more so as those games against Bangladesh and Pakistan were ones that they had a good chance of winning. Only New Zealand and Australia (the top two in the table at the time of writing this preview) have beaten them. Their next two games are against South Africa and the West Indies before taking on Australia in their final game. To have a chance of finishing in the top four they need to win their next two games. If they can repeat the performance they put on against England, particularly another great spell from bowler Lasith Malinga, they have a good chance to win this game and are the tip.
