Spain vs Poland Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Cup, Group B
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Spain bid to make it into their first ever ATP Cup final. They are the 12th seeds for this tournament and take on Poland, who are seeded five places above them. The Spaniards lost to Italy at this stage in the first ATP Cup held last year. They are without Rafael Nadal and their two singles players are Roberto Bautista Agut (world ranked 19th) and Pablo Carrenoa Busta (20th in the rankings). Spain won all three of their group matches, beating Chile and Norway 3-0 and then Serbia (without Novak Djokovic) 2-1. Agut in particular has been in top form this week. He's had wins over Cristian Garin (only three games lost), world number eight Casper Ruud and Dusan Lajovic (for the loss of five games), all in straight sets. Busta has also won his three singles matches with victories over Alejandro Tabilo, Viktor Durasovic and Filip Krajinovic, also without losing a set. The only match they've lost on their way to this semi-final was the doubles match against Serbia but the tie had already been won by then.
Poland also won all three matches in their group. It wasn't that hard a group, up against Argentina, Greece and Georgia. The Poles began the group with a 2-1 win over Greece. World number nine Hubert Hurkacz only dropped three games against Aristotelis Thanos, while Kamil Majchrzak (the world number 117) had a straight sets win over Michail Pervolarakis. Top Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas only played the doubles, teaming with Pervolarakis to beat Hurkacz and Jan Zielinski. That win over Greece was followed by a 3-0 win over Georgia with Hurkacz having to come from a set down to beat Aleksandre Metreveli. Their final group match was a 3-0 win over Argentina with Hurkacz winning the key match against Diego Schwartzman. Back Spain to win this semi-final. Their two singles players are in excellent form and they seem to have the better doubles team if that proves to be the vital decider.
