Spain take on Khazakhstan in Group B of the Billie Jean King Cup. The other country in this group are the hosts Great Britain but they are already in danger of being eliminated. That's because Tuesday saw them lose their opening group game to Kazakhstan 2-1. Both of the singles were won by the Eastern Europeans and that wasn't too surprising. Their two singles players are Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina (ranked 22nd) and Yulia Putintseva (51 in the world). They are certainly doing better than last year when losing to Belgium in the qualifying rounds. Rybakina has been in decent form of late with a recent final and semi-final. 

The Spanish team have Paula Badosa who is the highest ranked player in this tie at number 13. However, she was ranked second earlier in the year but has only reached one quarter final in her last seven tournaments. The other singles player for Spain is likely to be Nuria Parrizas Diaz who is ranked 72nd in the world and is much more at home on a clay court surface than a hard court. Khazakhstan have the momentum in this group and can get the win that will take them into the semi-finals.
