South Africa plays host to Wales at Toyota Stadium for the second test in the three match series. The home team can consider themselves very lucky to have won 32-29 in the first test. They needed an 83rd minute Damian Willemse penalty to beat the spirited Welsh outfit. Springbok Coach Jacques Nienaber has responded to their below par performance by making 14 changes to his team with only giant lock Eben Etzebeth surviving the drop. It remains to be seen if this is a masterstroke or a stroke of disaster. The team will be captained by the returning World Cup wining flyhalf Handre Pollard and includes a debut for 35 year old Deon Fourie. South Africa will be looking for a far more comfortable victory than the first test but will need their forward pack to be at their dominant best.
Wales will be licking their lips when they saw the team South Africa announced for this match as this will be their best chance to beat the Springboks at home. The visitors were desperately unlucky to lose the first test but their ill disciple cost them the match. In the closing stages of the match they were down to 12 players but to their credit they scored a try with just 13 players on the field. Wales always seem to lift their game against the Springboks as they have won four of the last seven matches against the World Champions. They have however lost the last three matches against them but the margin of defeat has been five points or less in all three games.
