South Africa vs Ireland Prediction & Betting Tips - Test Matchs
by Devesh Jaganath | in Rugby Predictions
Rugby powerhouses South Africa and Ireland will clash in the second Test match of the month at Kingpark Stadium in Durban on Saturday afternoon. The hosts won the first match 27-20 last weekend at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Last week’s victory was a massive one for South Africa, as it allowed them to settle the world rankings, albeit for the moment. The win saw the Green and Gold move over four points clear at the top of the rankings and also marked their first victory over the Shamrocks in eight years.
Cheslin Kolbe and Kurt-Lee Arendse both crossed the whitewash for the world champions. While the Irish were well in the contest throughout, Rassie Erasmus’ introduction of the Bomb Squad midway through the second half proved to be a crucial moment as the fresh pack held off a late surge by the visitors.
Notably, Erasmus has maintained faith in the same 23 players for this weekend, as the Springboks go in search of a long-awaited series win over their old foes.
Meanwhile, there was more than enough to suggest that Ireland are still well in with a chance of levelling this series. In fact, the scoreline from last week could have been a lot closer had a couple of crucial TMO decisions gone their way.
James Lowe dotted down at the hour mark but the try was ruled out for an infringement and the Boks also received a penalty try. Jamie Osborne scored on debut for the Shamrocks and Conor Murray and Ryan Baird also crossed the try line in a frenetic end to the match.
Andy Farrell has had to make a few big calls in selection for this weekend's encounter with Bundee Aki, Craig Casey and Dan Sheehan all sustaining injuries in the first Test, leading to their exclusion this weekend.
Barring last week’s defeat, Ireland had won the preceding three matches against the Springboks, including a 13-8 victory at the World Cup last year.

Our South Africa vs Ireland Prediction
After an incredible first Test in Pretoria, South Africa will look to complete a series sweep of their old foes in Durban this week, but they will know the Irish will not be a pushover. The Shamrocks, however, sustained a few crucial injuries that have ruled out key players for this match and playing in front of the boisterous Durban crowd is never an easy task.
It’s always a special occasion when these two heavyweights lock horns but we’re siding with the hosts to secure victory. Our South Africa vs Ireland prediction: South Africa -3!
