However, they now face the force that is India, who won this tournament in its inaugural year, which was hosted by none other than their opponents in this match.
The Men in Blue earned their spot in this grand spectacle by getting their revenge on the defending champions England, who knocked them out of the semi-final in 2022 in Australia.
Skipper Rohit Sharma played a leading role for his side at the top of the order, recovering from two wickets in quick succession to post a solid 171/7, off the back of a remarkable 73-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav.
With ball in hand, the India spin combination of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav proved too much for the England batters to handle, as they notched up six wickets between them en route to a 68-run victory.
India are also unbeaten in this competition and have now gone 13 T20Is without defeat, dating back to December last year, when they were beaten by the Proteas.
Sharma and co have been the pick of the sides in the competition this year and enter this contest as the bookmakers’ favourite.
