Sorana Cirstea vs Karolina Muchova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA US Open

World number nine Karolina Muchova will take on 26th-ranked Sorana Cirstea in the quarter-finals of the US Open on Tuesday. The winner of this match will move on to face either Jelena Ostapenko or Coco Gauff in the semi-final. These two have played each other four times on the hard surface in the past, and Muchova leads the head-to-head 3-1. The Czech came into this competition after reaching the final in Cincinnati last month. In that competition, she overcame the likes of Maria Sakkari and Aryna Sabalenka but was beaten by her potential opponent in the next round, Coco Gauff. That performance saw her break into the top ten rankings for the first time in her career. She began the year ranked outside the top 150. In Montreal, she reached the third round, which included a win over Cirstea in round two. Muchova is now 37-12 for the year and 27-8 on the hard. The Roland Garros finalist is the clear favourite in this one. 

Meanwhile, this is Sorana Cirstea’s best performance since returning to the hard court at the start of last month. The Romanian was knocked out of the second round in each of her last three competitions since Wimbledon. She earned an ITF title this year back in May, though that was on the clay. On the hard court, her best finish came in Miami in March when she reached the semi-final but was beaten by Petra Kvitova. In this competition, Cirstea has already beaten Kayla Day, Anna Kalinskaya, Elena Rybakina, and Belinda Bencic. In those four matches, she only dropped one set against Rybakina in round three. Cirstea is now 30-18 for the year and 20-11 on the hard. While Cirstea has been bested by this opponent on three occasions, she did overcome Muchova this year in Miami in straight sets.
