Sebastian Korda will hope to claim his first victory of 2024 when he squares off with unseeded Lorenzo Sonego in Adelaide. They will battle in the second round with the winner advancing to the quarters to play either Alexander Shevchenko or Christopher O’Connell. Lorenzo Sonego is coming off an exhausting first-round showdown with Yannick Hanfmann that lasted almost three hours. The Italian won in three sets with both sets he won seeing him needing seven games. Sonego, who is making his second appearance in Adelaide, has defeated Korda in three of the four times they have met. The 28-year-old, who lost his opening two matches of the season, is ranked 46th in the ATP.

Sebastian Korda is playing his second match of the year. He began the campaign with a first-round defeat in Brisbane. Having made the final here last season, the American will be confident of a strong start. Korda finished as runner-up in Adelaide in what was his debut campaign. It was the first of two finals for the 23-year-old who finished the year with a 26-16 record. Korda won 18 matches on hard court last season which was the most he had managed in a single season in his career. He is ranked 29th in the ATP.
