Both of these players are taking part in their first ever Grand Slam quarter final. Sofia Kenin is the 15th seed for the Australian Open and takes on the unseeded Ons Jabeur. Kenin won titles in Guangzhou, Mallorca and  Hobart last year. On her way to victory in both Mallorca and Hobart, Kenin beat Jabeur. 2019 was a breakthrough year for Kenin with a series of big wins including beating Serena Williams, Ashleigh Barty, Elina Svitolina, Bianca Andreescu, Madison Keys and Belinda Bencic. In this tournament, Kenin has won four matches and only Coco Gauff in the fourth round has taken a set off her.

Ons Jabeur is making history as the first player from an Arabic country to reach the quarter finals of a Grand Slam. Jabeur began the tournament ranked 78th in the world but the live rankings have her at up to 46. The Tunisian has lost sets in two of her four wins in this tournament. Not so in the first round, when she beat the 12th seeded Johanna Konta. The second round saw her come from behind to defeat Caroline Garcia and that was followed up by a three-set win over Caroline Wozniacki. Jabeur beat her second seed in the fourth round when defeating 27th seeded Wang Qiang. Her previous best performance in a Grand Slam was getting to the third round in the 2017 French Open and 2019 US Open.  This is the first time she has got past the first round in the Australian Open. Kenin is the form player here and can reach the last four.
