Slovenia vs Sweden Prediction & Betting Tips - Men's Olympics Handball

The third round of matches at the 2024 Paris Olympics handball competition will see Slovenia taking on Sweden in a Group A encounter on Wednesday afternoon. The Dragons are in fifth place in the group standings, while the Bengan Boys are second. Check out our match prediction below.

Slovenia began their quest for their first-ever Olympic medal on the opening day of the handball competition in Paris but suffered a narrow 25-22 defeat against Spain. 

However, they bounced back in some style on Monday evening, opening their account with an excellent performance to overcome Croatia 31-29, coming back from four goals down in the first half. 

While their attacking form was impressive, arguably the standout performer for the Dragons was keeper Klemen Ferlin, who finished with eight saves and 33% saving efficiency. That result ended a run of four winless matches for Slovenia and was their fourth in their last 10 in all competitions. 

Meanwhile, Sweden’s Olympic campaign has gone fairly similarly to their upcoming opponents’, as they too suffered an opening match defeat, going down 30-27 to Germany. 

However, the Bengan Boys, who have won four silvers at past Games, got themselves on the board with a hard-fought 29-26 win over Spain in match two, upsetting the odds in the process. The Swedes now hold a record of four wins in their last five matches but just six victories in their last 10. 

However, they have beaten their upcoming opponents in their last two encounters, back in January at the European Championship (28-22) and at the Tokyo Games in 2021 (32-25).
