The second round of matches in Pool B at the Paris 2024 volleyball competition will kick off with Slovenia taking on Serbia on Tuesday afternoon. The Dragons are leading the group with three points while the Eagles are bottom of the standings with one point. Here’s our match prediction for this Pool A encounter. 

As the lowest-ranked team in this Pool at 11th, few had given Serbia a chance to earn qualification, but after their first match, it would take a brave soul to write them off now. 

The Eagles went toe-to-toe with France in the opening round and came up agonisingly short, losing by a 3-2 scoreline. They stunned Les Bleus early, winning the first set 25-23 but lost the next two 25-17. 

After winning the fourth, France raised their game a level and surged to a 15-6 final-set scoreline. That marked the Eagles’ third defeat in a row. 

Meanwhile, Slovenia got their Olympic Games off to a solid start, beating a tricky Canada 3-1 on Sunday evening. They shot out to a two-set lead and looked to be cruising but Canada bit back in the third set, winning it 25-21. 

However, the world number five went up a gear in the second half of the fourth set to win 25-21 putting them firmly in the driver’s seat of Pool A. That was Slovenia’s third win in their last four games and seventh in their last 10. 

While Serbia dominated this fixture between 2017 and 2021, it is Slovenia that have been the better side in recent times, winning each of the last three matches between these sides.
