Croatia made a great comeback in their first match in Group A of the Olympic Men’s tournament. Now they bid to get another win when taking on Slovenia. Here’s our detailed prediction of this important group fixture.

The Croatians opened their campaign with a match against Japan on Saturday. They trailed by five goals at half-time but fought back brilliantly to run out 33-29 winners. The top four in this group go into the last eight and another win here would put them in a great position.

This is their first time in the Olympics since 2016 when they lost in the quarter-finals. They have twice won the gold medal, the last time being 20 years ago. The Croatians lost in the Main Round of the last European and World Championships.

The win over Japan ended a run of two successive losses and they will want to build on that result in this second match.

Slovenia are playing catch-up after a disappointing loss to Spain on Saturday. They led that match at the break but a poor second half performance saw them lose by three goals. This is their first Olympics since 2016 when making it to the last eight. They finished sixth in this year’s European Championships and tenth in the Worlds last year.

Form is a problem with three successive losses and four without a win. They lost to Croatia in January, their second loss to them in the last three played. We tip Croatia to get the win.
