Sloane Stephens vs Mirra Andreeva Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Cleveland Open

Ninth seeded Sloane Stephens had a struggle to make the second round in Cleveland. Now another tough match awaits her in round two as the American faces unseeded Mirra Andreeva. Stephens began this hard court event with a three set win over fellow American Lauren Davis. A slow start was made with only one game won in the first set. However, Stephens did well in the next two and only dropped four games. If winning this match, the scheduled quarter final opponents are either third seeded Veronika Kudermetova or lucky loser Sara Sarribes Tormo. Stephens was ranked 38th at the start of this Tennis in the Land tournament, so won't be seeded in the US Open. Her recent form on hard courts is consistent with the last 16 reached in both Montreal and Cincinnati. That's included wins over Anhelina Kalinina and Caroline Garcia. 

Mirra Andreeva is ranked 67th in the latest list but was 293rd at the start of the year. The Russian was only a year-old when her opponent first played in a Grand Slam tournament. Now aged 16, Andreeva has proved a difficult opponent to beat this year. Her success has come mainly on the ITF circuit with two titles won, both on clay. That's the surface she prefers, though the last 16 was reached at Wimbledon this year. This is her first hard court tournament of the year but she did win two ITF tournaments on this surface last year. The first round was a struggle for her too with a three set win over lucky loser Tamara Korpatsch. It didn't look like being that way with Andreeva winning the first set to love. Korpatsch levelled and eventually Andreeva won 7-5 in the final set. We go for Stephens to get the win here.
