Top seed Jannik Sinner faces compatriot Matteo Berrettini in round two at Wimbledon. The winner of this all-Italian match will be up against either 27th seed Tallon Griekspoor or unseeded Miomir Kecmanovic in the last 32.

Sinner tops the world rankings and is already assured of staying in that position even if he doesn't win his first Wimbledon title. He's also top of the ATP Live Race after a highly impressive 2024. Just three matches have been lost this year with 39 won and four titles landed.

2024 has already seen him win his first Grand Slam title. Last month also saw him win his first grass court title with success in the Halle Open. 2023 saw him reach the last four of this grass court Grand Slam tournament. That followed getting to the quarter-finals in 2022.

He began this year's tournament with a four-set win over unseeded German Yannick Hanfmann. He won the first two sets but then lost the third. Sinner recovered well to clinch the match, winning the fourth set for the loss of three games. 

There's been one previous match between the pair. That was won by Sinner in straight sets in 2022 but was played on a hard court. Matteo Berrettini is not the kind of player you want to be meeting in the first week of Wimbledon.

The former world number six reached the final in 2021 and got to the fourth round last year. Injuries have affected his career and he was 59th in the most recent ranking list. He's down to 78th in the live list due to defending the points from last year.

Berrettini reached the final of the BOSS Open this year losing to Jack Draper. He beat Marton Fucsovics in four sets in round one. We tip him to win a set in this match.
