Wild card Yunchaokete Bu bids to reach the final of the hard court China Open. He faces the top seed Jannik Sinner in the last four. The winner will be up against either Daniil Medvedev or Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Here's our match prediction.

Jannik Sinner is two matches away from his seventh ATP Tour title of the year. The world number one and leader of the ATP Race has won five hard court titles in 2024 and that includes two Grand Slams.

He made a slow start to this tournament in Beijing with both of his first two matches going to a final set. He lost the opening set in his round one match against Nicolas Jarry but then lost just four games in the two sets that followed.

It was almost a repeat in round two with the first set against Roman Safiullin dropped. Then he won the next two sets for the loss of five games. It was smoother progress in the last eight as he beat Jiri Lehecka in straight sets.

A mighty tough task therefore awaits his Chinese opponent. Bu was down at 96th in the last ranking list but this run to the last four in Beijing has taken him to a career-high 69th, 20 places higher than his previous best.

It's been a big year for the Chinese player who was ranked outside the top 200 in May of this year. He's won two Challenger Tour hard court events this year with two other finals at that level reached.

Last week he got to the last four of the ATP Tour event held in Hangzhou. His good form has continued with wins over Juncheng Shang (after losing the first set), sixth seed Lorenzo Musetti and fourth-seeded Andrey Rublev.
