Fifth seed Andrey Rublev has continued his improved form this week. He takes on the top seed Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals of the Rogers Cup in Montreal. Can he make it to the last four? Read our match prediction.

Rublev is up to sixth in the live rankings after reaching the quarter-final of this hard court Masters tournament. It’s been a strange year for the Russian with plenty of deep runs in the first few months of the year. That included winning the Hong Kong title and four other hard-court last eight appearances.

His form dipped on clay and grass, but he’s rediscovered it back on hard courts. This is his second consecutive quarter-final appearance. To reach this last eight, Rublev has beaten Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Brandon Nakashima without dropping a set.

Jannik Sinner is the world number one in both the overall and ATP Race rankings. He's playing his first tournament since Wimbledon after missing the Paris Olympics due to illness. The Italian has won four tournaments so far in 2024.

He's played 48 matches this year and won 44 of them. His last hard court tournament was in March when he beat Grigor Dimitrov in the final to win the Miami Masters. That was his third title win on this surface having already won the Australian Open and the Rotterdam indoor event.

Sinner has played two matches this week and beaten both Borna Coric and 15th seed Alejandro Tabilo without dropping a set. He leads Rublev 5-2 in previous meetings and three of their four matches on hard courts have been won by the Italian.
