Simona Halep vs Shuai Zhang Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Wimbledon Championships

Simona Halep is a former world number one and seeded seventh for this tournament. She is bidding to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals for only the second time in her career. Her previous best was  last four in 2014 when losing to Eugenie Bouchard. She has shown a good level of consistency here though with quarter finals in both 2016 and 2017. Despite being a former world number one, Halep has only won one Grand Slam singles title, the 2018 French Open. The last round saw her beat 15-year-old Coco Gauff in straight sets.

Zhang Shuai had never made it past the first round at Wimbledon in eight previous attempts. She’s been a revelation this year though beating two seeds already in this tournament. The first round saw her defeat 23rd seed Caroline Garcia. Another shock was caused in round three when she beat the 14th seed Carolina Wozniacki. All without dropping a single set. She did finally drop a set in the fourth round when beating Danaya Yastremska in three sets. This is her first time past the third round in a Grand Slam tournament since the 2016 Australian Open when she reached her only other Grand Slam quarter-final.  It's already been a big year for her though having won the women's doubles at the Australian Open but is already out of the Wimbledon equivalent. The Chinese player won't be scared of meeting Halep as she has beaten her twice, both times in 2016. They have only met three times and Halep's only win was seven years ago. Halep looked very impressive in her last sixteen game and can win this match.
