Shuai Zhang vs Magdalena Frech Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA China Open

World number 595 Zhang Shuai has made it to the fourth round in Beijing and will take on 23rd seed Magda Frech. They face off on Tuesday and here’s our prediction for the match.

These two have met twice before with each claiming one win; a quarter-final battle with Paula Badosa or Jessica Pegula awaits the winner. Playing at home has given Zhang an incredible shot in the arm.

The Chinese number 15 had not won a Singles match since last year, losing 24 straight outings. This is the longest WTA run a player has gone without a Singles win in the Open Era.

She snapped this streak in the first round against McCartney Kessler, winning in straight sets, and after three rounds, is yet to drop a set. The 35-year-old defeated Emma Navarro in the second round and then Greet Minnen, boosting her confidence.

Shuai has moved 279 places in the live ranking and is now placed 316th.

Though in red-hot form, Magda Frech hasn’t had a smooth run in Beijing like Shuai. She needed a decider to win both her matches. Currently, on a seven-match winning streak, Frech defeated Alycia Parks in the first round in two hours and 49 minutes.

In the second round, the Pole dug her heels in to come back from losing the first set 6-0 against Diana Shnaider. Frech, who has now improved her record to 38-26, arrived in Beijing after winning her first tour title – in Guadalajara.

Frech, who defeated Shuai last year at the French Open to add to that 24-match winless run, has broken into the WTA top 30. She is currently 29th in the live ranking.
