30th seeded Shelby Rogers will have to beat two unseeded players to reach the third round at Wimbledon. The American begins with this first round match against Petra Martic. The winner takes on either Laura Pigossi or Kristina Kucova in round two. Rogers begins this tournament ranked 39th in the world, so owes the ban and injuries to her being seeded. The first seed she'd meet would be fellow American Jessica Pegula. Rogers has twice reached the third round od this Grand Slam and that's how far she got last year losing to 18th seeded Elena Rybakina. Her grass court season has seen Rogers reach the semi-finals of the Libema Open (where she avenged that loss to Rybakina) but lose in the last 32 in Nottingham and Eastbourne.

Petra Martic is world ranked 80th and has a best of reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon. Her preparations for this year's tournament haven't gone too well though. Martic lost in the last 32 in Nottingham and then was beaten by British player Jodie Burrage at Eastbourne last week in the last 64 after winning the first set. That followed a loss in the first round at the French Open to Katerina Siniakova. Injuries have affected her career but Martic did get to the semi-finals in Rome on clay. It's nine years since her one grass court title win and another one doesn't look imminent. Back Rogers to get the win.
