Round six of the Currie Cup will draw to a close at Kingspark Stadium where the Sharks will be taking on Griquas. The hosts are currently in sixth place in the table standings, while the visitors are seventh. Let’s get into the match prediction.

After reaching the semi-final last season, the Sharks have found it tough to follow up this term, partially owing to several of their first-team players currently being away with the Springboks at the Rugby Championship. 

The Sharks have 12 points after the first five rounds of matches, six of which came via bonus points, split with four for tries scored and two for losing by fewer than seven points. 

Last week, the Durbanites headed to Nelspruit and played out a thrilling 44-44 draw with the Pumas. They will now look to exact their revenge on the Griquas, who beat them 34-31 in Kimberley back in week two of the competition. 

Meanwhile, Griquas finished second bottom of the standings last season and that is exactly where they are again this term, currently on eight points after the first five games. 

However, their table position arguably does not tell the full story as Guiquas have been more than decent in attack, picking up four bonus points for tries scored. It’s been their defence that has been the issue.

Griquas have conceded a whopping 202 points already in the competition, and unless they can address this, they are likely to find it difficult to move up the table.
