South Sudan and Serbia will lock horns in the nations’ final Group C basketball match at the Olympic Games. The two teams are tied on three points ahead of this game. Read on for our analysis and prediction.

This will be the second meeting between South Sudan and Serbia. Serbia won by a landslide in the only other time they faced off with South Sudan. This was at last year’s FIBA World Cup. The European nation claimed a dominant 115-83 victory and are fancied to win once again.

After losing to the USA in their first match by 26 points, Serbia bounced back on Match Day 2 and thumped Puerto Rico 107-66. Six players scored at least 11 points against the Caribbean nation with Nikola Jokic claiming 14 points and 15 rebounds. The two-time Olympic Silver Medalists are putting up 95.5 points a game in Paris and are shooting 49.7% from the field.

South Sudan began their Olympic debut on a high note, seeing off Group C whipping boys Puerto Rico 90-79. In their second game, however, they were outdone by the in-form USA, who won 103-86. Despite the loss South Sudan’s offensive side continues to blossom and against the Serbs, they will be fired up for a win.

The Bright Stars are averaging 88.0 points and only four other teams are doing better. They are shooting 42.2% from the field and 92.6% from the free-throw line which is the best record in Paris. Africa’s sole representatives at the Summer Games have four players averaging double-figure points.

Carlik Jones and Nuni Omot are putting up 18.5 and 18 points respectively. Bul Kuol and Marial Shayok are the other two players, averaging 14 and 13.5 points respectively.
