Serbia take on the Czech Republic for a place in the last eight of the 2023 Men's European Volleyball Championships. The winners of this last 16 match will face either world number one ranked Poland or Belgium in Tuesday's quarter final. Serbia are ranked ninth in the world which is ten places higher than their opponents. The Serbs last missed out on reaching the quarter finals of the European Volleyball Championships 14 years ago. Only one of the last six tournaments has seen them not make it to the last four. They finished second behind Italy in Pool A and it was the Italians who were the only team to get a win against them. They lost 3-0 to Italy but only dropped two sets in their other four pool matches and will expect to win this match. They played the Czech Republic twice in friendlies prior to these championships.

The Czech Republic had a tougher route to the knockout stages. They ended Pool C in third place, winning three and losing two of their matches. The losses came against the top two in the pool, Poland and the Netherlands with only one set being won. Wins over Denmark, Montenegro and North Macedonia saw them comfortably qualify for the last 16. They finished eighth in the 2021 European Championships but we believe they'll end with a classification lower than that. That's because we tip Serbia to win this match 3-0.
