Serbia are ranked sixth in the world and that's at least 14 places more than any other side in Group B. They begin their World Cup campaign against China with games against South Sudan and Puerto Rico to follow. The last three World Cups have all seen Serbia finish in the top five. Their best finish in those recent tournaments was being the runners-up in 2014. They have twice lifted the trophy, winning in 1998 and successfully defending it four years later. The Serbs have only lost one of their last six matches coming into this tournament. That was a single point loss to Italy after leading by 17 points at one stage. Among their wins was a 25 point win over China and that was without some of their top players. That could be the case here or at least plenty of changes being made once a good lead is achieved.
China are ranked 27th in the world and will likely battle it out with Puerto Rica for the second qualifying spot. They finished 24th in the last World Cup and their best finish is eighth but that was 19 years ago. Four of their last six matches have been lost and that includes being beaten by 49 points in their friendly against Germany. One problem they have is in their offensive play. The last four matches have seen them fail to get to 70 points with a lowest score of 58. We go for Serbia to win this and cover a 17.5 point spread.
