English Premiership side Newcastle Falcons travel to Pau (aka Section Paloise) in the European Rugby Challenge Cup. Also in Pool 2 are Dragons, Lions, Montpelller and Osprey. Can La Section begin their campaign with a home win? Here's our match prediction.
Section Paloise are tenth in Top 14 but they have their away record to blame for being in the bottom half of the table. All five of their away league matches have been lost this year but it's a different story on home soil. Four of their six home league matches have been won, most recently a victory over Lyon. Last season saw them finish second in their European Rugby Challenge Cup pool but lose to Connacht in the last 16.
Newcastle Falcons are one from bottom in the English Premiership. At least this season they have been winning games with two league victories over Exeter Chiefs and Saracens, though both were on home soil.
There has been some success too in the Rugby Premiership Cup with all three of their pool matches being won. They come into this match having won their last four games. The Falcons lost three of their four games in this competition last season and failed to make it out of their pool.
We go for Pau to win this and defy a -4.5 points handicap.
