Sebastian Korda is the third seed and takes on seventh seeded Jiri Lehecka in the Adelaide International semi-final. The winner will face either eighth seed Alexander Bublik or unseeded Jack Draper in the final. Korda reached the final of one of the Adelaide tournaments last year, losing to Novak Djokovic but taking him to a final set. The American is up to 25th in the live rankings and can climb another couple of places if reaching the final. That would see the 23-year-old equal his career high of 23rd. Korda's new year didn't start well as he lost in his first match to Yannick Hanfmann. It's gone much better for him now he's back in Adelaide. He started with a win over Lorenzo Sonego and then beat wild card Chris O'Connell, both coming in straight sets.

Jiri Lehecka was ranked 32nd at the start of the Adelaide International. Making it to the last four has seen him rise one place but beating Korda would take him up to a new career high of 26th. The 22-year-old represented the Czech Republic in the United Cup last week but lost both of his singles matches in three sets against Novak Djokovic and Zhizhen Zhang. He's won three matches in Adelaide and the second of those also went to a final set. Lehecka dropped the middle set to unseeded Dusan Lajovic but won the deciding one 6-3. He then caused an upset in the quarter finals with a straight sets win over second seed Nicolas Jarry. This looks like being a close match but we tip Korda to reach the final.
