Fifth seeded Tommy Paul begins his Cinch Championships campaign with a first round match against Sebastian Baez. Whoever wins this match will be up against either Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina or Alejandro Tabilo in round two of this grass court tournament. Paul is 13th in the live rankings but had a disappointing time in the recent Libema Open. He had to come from behind to get past Alexi Popyrin but then lost in the quarter-finals to Sebastian Korda. The American has reached the third round at Wimbledon in both of the past two years and got to round four in 2022. Last year saw him get to the final of the Eastbourne grass court tournament. That run included his only ever match against Baez and he won it in straight sets.

Sebastian Baez is far better on clay and has won two titles on that surface this year. The Argentinian is 19th in the live rankings but that's down to his clay court performances. At Wimbledon he's only played twice and never made it past the second round. Baez has never won two successive matches in a grass court tournament and won only three of his eight matches played in his career. He'll want to get some more experience on this surface but we tip Paul to win this match in straight sets.
