Fifth seeded Sebastian Baez takes on unseeded Roberto Carballes Baena in round two of the Geneva Open. This is the final outdoor clay court tournament for these players before Roland Garros begins next week. The winner of this match goes into the quarter-finals against either second seed Casper Ruud or qualifier Sebastian Ofner. Baez is 20th in the live rankings and four places higher in the ATP Race. The Argentinian won back-to-back clay tournaments in South America earlier this year. A victory in Rio was followed by another title triumph in Santiago. He hasn't been able to repeat that level of performance in Europe so far. Baez lost his first two matches in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, then reached the last 32 in Madrid. Better form was shown in Rome as he got to the last 16, including a win over Holger Rune. This week began with a straight sets win over Sumit Nagal.

Roberto Carballes Baena is the world number 62 but a win here can take him into the top 60. To do that he has to beat Baez for the first time in his career. Their only previous meeting was on clay last year with Baena only winning three games. He beat Daniel Altmaier in straight sets to make it into round two of this tournament. Baena also played on the South American clay court swing but only won one of his five matches. He then lost in the final of the clay court tournament in Marrakech, an event he won last year. The last 16 was reached in Barcelona but he failed to get past the second round in both Madrid and Rome. Last week saw him lose in his first match in the Bordeaux Challenger Tour event.  We tip Baez to get the win here.
