Fifth seed Sebastian Baez has a tough match against unseeded J J Wolf in the Stockholm Open first round. Up next in this hard court tournament will be either Laslo Djere or wild card Leo Borg. Baez is the world number 28 and in August won the Winston Salem hard court title. The Argentinian was in top form at that time having just won a clay court event held in Kitzbuhel. Clay is his best surface and his form on hard courts since that Winston Salem title hasn't been strong. He's won three and lost the same number, most recently being beaten in the last 32 in Shanghai to Jannik Sinner. 21 of his 31 wins this year have come on clay courts and if this match was being played on that surface he'd be a strong favorite to get the win.
J J Wolf is ranked 58th but in February was a career high 39th. The 24-year-old had a good run in Shanghai last week getting to the last 16. That included a win over world number 16 Cameron Norrie so he does look to be in the slightly better form at present. The American also reached the last eigth in Washington plus semi-finals in Atlanta and Dallas. He's won 19 matches on hard courts, which is ten more than his opponent. Wolf has the ability on hard courts to get the win in this match and progress into the second round of the Stockholm Open.
