Seattle Mariners vs Minnesota Twins Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in MLB Predictions
The AL West third-place Seattle Mariners host the AL Central leading Minnesota Twins at Safeco Field for the third of a four game series. Seattle were unable to continue on with the momentum after winning the first game of this series. They suffered a heavy 10-3 loss in the two teams most recent outing on Tuesday, snapping a two game winning streak for the Mariners. Seattle now sits on a .500 record, falling 9.0 games behind the division-leading Rangers and 4.5 games behind the second-place Houston Astros. Houston holds the third and final Wild Card spot the way things stand at the moment, meaning that the Mariners will have to close the gap on their division rivals if they are to make the 2023 postseason. Seattle will start this game with righty Luis Castillo who is 6-7 on the year but is sporting an impressive 2.96 ERA. Castillo’s last outing saw him go five innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits in a 5-4 loss to the Tigers.
The Twins come into this game leading the AL Central despite having a record only slightly better than their opponents today. They’ve certainly benefited from being in baseball’s weakest division as their 49-47 record has them sitting 1.5 games above the second-place Guardians. Minnesota have been on a good run of form lately with four wins from their last five games. They’ve now won six of their last 10 overall and will be looking to make it two in a row over Seattle on Wednesday. The bats have been heating up for the Twins as their 10 run total in their last game was the second time they hit that mark in the last four days. The visitors will start this game with Kenta Maeda who has a 2-5 record and an ERA of 5.50.

Our Seattle Mariners vs Minnesota Twins Prediction
This could be a tricky spot for the Mariners with Castillo on the mound. The 30-year-old has seen a sharp increase in the amount of home runs he’s giving up which has seen his ERA slowly increase since the beginning of June. Facing off against this power-hitting lineup of the Twins, it’s likely we see him give up a couple of bombs here as well. Meanwhile, Kenta Maeda has shown consistently steady form since returning from injury after his 10 earned run disaster against the Yankees earlier in the year. He should be able to provide the Twins with a solid five or so innings which could be enough to get them over the line here. Our Seattle Mariners vs Minnesota Twins prediction is for the Twins to win.
