The Seattle Kraken host the Los Angeles Kings at the Climate Pledge Arena for a battle between two of the Pacific division’s playoff bound teams. The Kraken currently sit fourth in the division with a record of 41 wins, 25 losses and eight defeats giving them a points total of 90 as we enter the home stretch of the 2022/23 NHL regular season. Seattle are still in the hunt to overtake the Kings for one of the three automatic playoff spots awarded to each division as they trail their opponents today by six points. The hosts also have a solid standing and lead the Wild Card race as they lead the Jets by three and Calgary by five for one of the two awarded playoff spots. The Kraken are coming off a 4-1 home victory over Anaheim as they will now look to win their second consecutive game for the first time since early March. The team has struggled for consistency lately and has traded a win for a loss in the last eight contests.
On the other side, the LA Kings come into this matchup looking to put an end to a two game losing streak and get back to winning ways. The Kings are the third-place team in the Pacific division, granting them automatic entry to the postseason should they be able to hold on to their spot. They trail the second-place Oilers by just one point and the first-place Golden Knights by two points meaning that there could still be some late season drama in the standings. They’ll have to start winning games quickly though, as there are only seven games remaining in the regular season. Los Angeles is coming off a disappointing 2-0 away loss to the Oilers in a result which saw them leapfrogged by their opponents. This was following another poor display in a 2-1 away loss to the Flames two nights prior.
