Scotland vs Ireland Prediction & Betting Tips - Six Nations
by Steve Ashfield | in Six Nations Predictions
Neither of these countries are going to win the Six Nations this year. Scotland have five points from two games, while Ireland are two points ahead of them with a game played more. By the time this game starts on Sunday, Ireland (currently third) are almost certain to be 12 points behind leaders Wales with a game in hand. Wales not beating Italy and getting a bonus point just doesn't look likely on Saturday. Ireland began this campaign with a narrow loss away to Wales, a disappoing defeat considering they led by seven points at one stage. Having Peter Mahoney sent off didn't helpt their cause. Another narrow lost was the result of their second match, being beaten at home by France. Their only win has been a 48-10 away victory over hapless Italy. Conor Murray is fit again but only on the bench for this match. There are three changes from the line-up that beat Italy. They will be out to maintain an impressive record against Scotland with nine wins in the last ten.
Scotland have only played twice so far due to their game against France being postponed for health reasons. They famously won at Twickenham in their opening match but then lost 25-24 at home to Wales. They still have this game, a home match against Italy and then the rearranged match against France. Flanker James Ritchie is back for the Scottish side after missing the match against Wales. Coach Gregor Townsend has lost all five of the games against Ireland since he took over. They will have to get over the disappointment of losing to Wales and being off the pitch for a while due to the France game not being played. Go for Ireland to get a narrow win here.
