Scotland vs Ireland Prediction & Betting Tips - Six Nations
by Steve Ashfield | in Six Nations Predictions
Both of these countries won their opening match in this season's Six Nations tournament. Scotland are in second place and ahead of visitors Ireland on points difference. Which side will make it two wins out of two? Read our match prediction.
Scotland beat Italy at home last weekend, defeating the Italians 31-19. After this match, they only have one more home game to play and that's against Wales on March 9. They finished fourth in last year's Six Nations but only lost by four points to Ireland in Dublin last year.
Ireland continue their bid to win the Six Nations for the third successive year. They hosted England in Dublin last weekend and won by five points despite being behind at the break. Ireland haven't been beaten by Scotland since 2017 with ten matches won since that loss. With away games in Wales and Italy and a home match against France, they remain hopeful of again being Six Nations champions.

Scotland - Ireland: Form Analysis
Scotland have won their last three matches. Home wins over Australia and Portugal was followed by a 31-19 win over Italy at Murrayfield last weekend. Only one of their last nine matches has been lost, a home loss to world champions South Africa last November.
Most of the recent wins have come against countries such as Fiji, Canada, Uruguay and the USA. Last year's Six Nations saw them win twice but lose to France, Italy and Ireland. Their last ten matches against Ireland have all ended in defeat.
Ireland are chasing a Six Nations hat-trick.
Ireland came from behind to beat England last weekend as they began their bid to win a third successive Six Nations title. Their last four matches have all been won since a rare home loss inflicted on them by New Zealand last November.
12 of their last 13 Six Nations matches have been won, the only loss being at England last year by a single point. We go for Ireland to win this on a -1.5 points handicap.

Scotland & Ireland Squad Analysis
Scotland have made three changes for this Six Nations match against Ireland. Playing at loosehead prop will be Rory Sutherland and Jack Dempsey will be at number eight. With Dempsey back in the starting line-up, Matt Fagerson will be playing blindside flank against Ireland.

It'll be a big weekend for Tom Jordan as the inside centre makes his first Six Nations start. He was born in New Zealand and last year qualified for Scotland on residency grounds and made his debut in the Autumn Series.
Dropping down to the bench are Jamie Ritchie, Stafford McDowell and Pierre Schoeman. New on the replacements bench will be Sam Skinner.
Ireland have recalled Peter O'Mahoney as flanker. This will be his first start for Ireland since a match in South Africa last summer. Mack Hansen and Finlay Bealham had been doubtful after being injured last weekend but have been passed fit to play.
Sam Prendergast will start the match and it'll be his first away Test. Robbie Henshaw willl start at outside centre instead of Garry Ringrose. Jack Crowley will again be on the bench alongside Dan Sheehan and Jack Conan.

Our Scotland vs Ireland Prediction
Ireland face a tough task away to Scotland this weekend. They began their defence of the Six Nations title with a home win over England. Now they travel to Edinburgh looking to earn an 11th straight victory over Scotland.
The home side beat Italy last weekend but only finished fourth in the Six Nations last year. They had some close matches last year and are not an easy side to beat at Murrayfield. Another close match is likely this weekend and our main Scotland v Ireland prediction is Ireland to win on a -1.5 points handicap.
