Scotland welcomes Australia to Murrayfield to kick off the Autumn Internationals. The home side will be looking to dust of their rustiness as they prepare for matches against Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina after Australia. Scotland have won their last three matches against the Wallabies and are looking to make it four in a row for the first time ever. The home team will be using these Autumn tests to evaluate their depth ahead of next year’s Six Nations and more importantly the 2023 World Cup in France. Scotland coach Gregor Townsend has sprung a major surprise by not selecting mercurial flyhalf Finn Russell in his squad and it will be interesting to see who will be playing in the pivot role. The home side were last in action back in July when they lost the test series 2-1 away to Argentina.
Australia will be hoping for winning start to their end of year tour after they lost their last three matches in the Rugby Championships. They will welcome back former captain Michael Hooper for this match after he took an extended break from the game citing mental health issues. They will be desperate to avoid a fourth straight loss to the Scotsmen. Australia have been very poor on the road as have only won one of their last six away matches. That lone win was achieved in Argentina but they then lost the next match 48-17 to the Pumas.
