Might there be a chat between these two players on what it was like to lose to Emma Raducanu at the US Open? Belinda Bencic is the third seed for the Ostrava Open and takes on unseeded Sara Sorribes Tormo. This is a second round match and the winner will face either Paula Badosa (seeded ninth) or Anett Kontaveit in the last eight. Bencic received a bye through to this match and this week moved up to 11th in the world rankings. The live rankings have her up to tenth but that's still behind the fourth place she had in February of last year. August saw Bencic win the Olympic Gold Medal in Tokyo. Since then, Bencic has been beaten in three quarter finals in the Western & Southern Open, the US Open and in last week's Luxembourg Open. All three losses were to players ranked below her.

Sara Sorribes Tormo probably still has nightmares over that loss to Emma Raducanu in New York. The Spaniard only won one game in their last 32 encounter. The world number 36 has had better days, most notably when winning a tournament in Mexico six months ago. Beating Ashleigh Barty at the Olympics wasn't bad either, Bencic might thank her for that. Tormo had a good win over Anastasia Zakharova in the first round, beating the qualifier 6-3 6-3.  This is the first time that Tormo has had a match against Bencic. The third seed can get the win to take her into the quarter finals.
