Sunday Night Football in week five of the NFL sees a potential NFC Championship preview with the unbeaten 49ers taking on the 3-1 Dallas Cowboys. San Francisco are sitting atop the NFC West with a perfect 4-0 record while the Cowboys are second in the NFC East. The 49ers cruised to victory at home over the Cardinals last weekend, storming out to a 21-0 halftime lead before eventually winning 35-16. It was another dominant performance from San Francisco who are quickly looking like the best team in the NFL. The 19 point win over Arizona marked the third time this season that they won by double-digits. While they have been known for their stout defense in recent seasons, the Niners are showing what they can do on the other side of the ball with Brock Purdy as their starter. The hosts have scored 30 or more points in all four games so far with Purdy posting a 115.1 QB rating.

The Cowboys will look for a modicum of revenge in this game after being eliminated from last season’s playoffs by San Francisco 19-12 in the divisional round. They’ve started strongly over in Big D, winning three of their first four games. The most recent outing for Dallas was a dominant 38-3 win over New England. The Cowboys do however have a concerning loss on their record when they fell 28-16 to the 1-3 Cardinals in week three. The most impressive part of Dallas’ start to the 2023/24 season has undoubtedly been their defense. Dan Quinn’s unit is looking like arguably the best in the NFL as they have allowed a league low 10.3 points per game. This low total is thanks to a complete shutout of the Giants in week one and allowing only three to the Patriots last week.
